Swakopmund

Our next destination would be Swakopmund. The drive to get to Swakopmund was quite spectacular, we drove through an area which is called “The Moon Landscape” and it really does look like the moon and as we reached the coast, we drove through Walvisbay…one of the ugliest cities i’ve ever seen… the flamingos are pretty though. We stayed two nights in Swakopmund, our highlight was The Living Desert Tour, where we learnt about the different species living in the desert. Our guide was hillarious and i would recommend to ask for Chris, if you ever think of doing a Living Desert Tour.

We visited the Cape Cross Seal Reserve; its the only place in the world where you can find the Cape fur seal. This Seal Reserve is the largest breeding colony of these seals, with up to 210,000 seals present during November and December. The sight of more than 100,000 seals at the beach is impressive, though you’re going to wish you had a stuffed nose…no seriously, you’ll thank us for the recommendation. – Claudia
